Nike's Pro Training sports bra

We’ve covered sports bras before on SBBH. Thanks to small-bust experts Sugarchilli sharing their expertise, we learned about the common problems facing small-busted women who love to exercise.

One being the fact that hardly any sports bras exist that are designed to fit an AA-cup. Another being that crop tops of undisclosed cup-size generally flatten busts and create the rather unattractive phenomena of the “uniboob”.

Ever hopeful, I’ve trawled the stores again to find out if any new gems have been introduced to the market… and I’ve found a smattering of styles that might just work for any little-chested fitness fanatics that want to protect their mini busts against “boing” and “droop”.  Here’s my selection:
  1. Sportjock Women’s Action sport bra, £24.48, Amazon: Designed to fit A-C cup sizes, this bra is available in S, M and L.  Small-busted testers have been impressed by the fit: “ There seems to be an assumption that, for a small-busted runner, any crop top will do, but this bra is a good example of how to get it right.  Like most crop tops, it’s very comfortable. However, unlike some, it’s easy to pull on and off, rigid enough to hold the bust still over a run, wicks well and dries quickly.” (Runners World)
  2. Falke Aurora ergonomic sports bra in black, £13.95, Amazon: Suitable for AA-B cup wearers, this sports bra comes in sizes small and medium.  The pull on style offers protection and support, adjusting easily to the movement of the body during sports activities.
  3. Nike Pro Training sports bra, £19.99, JD Sports: Available in a bubblegum pink colour, this sports bra comes in sizes XS-L. It features a thick elasticated hem to keep the bra in place during high-impact sports such as running and tennis. This bra offers Nike’s DRI-FIT technology, which draws sweat away from the body to keep you dry and comfortable during exercise.
  4. Play Dry short bra, £18, Reebok: With its racerback style and shaped seaming and bustline, this bra has a flattering cut for smaller busts.  Its moisture-wicking Play Dry fabric is great at busting sweat, while the design provides maximum support even during high-performance exercise.  This bra is available in white, black and blue in sizes XS-L.
  5. Shock Absorber Level 2 N4246 Pump sports bra£29, Figleaves: This supportive sports bra is designed for impact level 2 physical activity. Lightly padded for enhanced shape and support, its perfect for the gym. It’s available in black, purple, teal, black/white. It comes in sizes 32-36A, 32-38B-D.  AA-cup testers report that the A-cup is a good fit.

One Response to “A control freak’s guide: sports bras for small busts”

Personal experience: I have one of the Shock Absorber bras and have been pretty pleased with it. It’s comfortable, does a good job of minimizing bounce, yet doesn’t cause flat-chest mono-breast the way some sports bras do.

Now if only the weather would improve so I could put it on and go for a run again… *wistful sigh*
