I think something really good about having smaller breasts is that they make you look like you weigh about 5-10lbs less than you really do. When your upper body is lean, you project leanness in general. Even if I gain weight in my hips and butt, I project a small frame.

Also, I breastfed my 3 children and there is no sagging of any kind. I also have never had even one bout of mastitis and I wonder if it is due to shorter milk ducts? So basically, my small breasts have functioned wonderfully for nursing.

Oh good heavens - sorry, Susannah, for never answering - this just showed up in my RSS feed, a scant four months after the initial posts! I don't know if you'll even see this, but I do actually measure out at 34 - so maybe it is the underwire? Interesting idea.

Susannah-

Thanks for the reply :) Just want to let you know that I wasn't personally offended or anything like that, I'm just always on the watch for the kind of language used when speaking about bodies, as many women can be so sensitive about the topic. And fair enough about the "celebrate your curves" lines, that does make it quite clear that you aren't making a hierarchy.

That being said, I think the involuntary emotional response many women might have to a phrase like "cumbersome funbags" might be fairly strong, but I could be off the mark. I mean, the phrase is funny :P I just worry that it could make women feel that too much chest is, well, worse! If no one else says anything though, then perhaps I'm just wrong on this one :)

Once again, thanks for the reply!

Windie-

It was not my intention to knock down larger chested women but offer a slightly humorous insight as to cases in which smaller chests can be an advantage. None of these examples were intentionally presented as a case against larger breasts and my use of language in "cumbersome funbags" was a direct reference to the awkwardness with which girls in school develop and the trouble that they seemed to have adjusting- I wouldn't dream of employing the same terminology in reference to a grown woman.

I am sorry if this post offended you- I hope you will realise that it was not my intention to promote one body shape through representing another negatively. I hope that you realise from the tone of this blog that it was all meant in good humour and not to establish that flatter chests are some sort of superior body shape trait. I'd kill for Kat Dennings' figure.

You'll also notice that I ended with "Celebrate your curves- or lack thereof." Having seen people struggle with their body image I always encourage women to love their shapes, regardless of what that shape might be. In this case celebrating smaller busts seems appropriate given the context of this blog and its demographic; but I also follow blogs like www.fullerfigurefullerbust.com religiously and get involved there too.

I hope this helps clear up any seemingly bad taste insinuations on my part.

I'm going to preface this with an important statement: I think small chested women are gorgeous.

Now, what I don't like is that to speak positively about small chested women you resorted to calling larger breasts "cumbersome funbags." Instead of strictly speaking proudly about small chests without insult, you knocked down larger chested women for something out of their control. I don't think that's okay. Keira Knightley is beautiful, but so is Kat Dennings. Two very different shapes, two lovely ladies. So I'd ask that in the future that you maybe watch that your language doesn't present a negative comparison, or competition, between body types.

Hi Catherine, I'm very against implants. Because it is the only kind of surgery that takes a healthy body and makes it less healthy. It gets everything backwards. It says that the small breast is unhealthy/damaged and needs to be "fixed" when in actuality it was perfect all along.

OMG soooo glad I found your bloggg!!! I just got certified to teach Zumba and the 1 and ONLY thing that bugs me is that I'll be up in front of a bunch of people with my very flat chest flattened even more by a sports bra. Typical sports bras do nothing to make my upper body figure look attractive. I love my body very much but workout clothes have a way of making my nice body seem way out of proportion. I am a medium build with a pear shape so I usually need a top with some sleeves to balance my booty. It's really important to me that I find some workout clothes that I feel comfortable wearing in front of others.

but the model does not look anywhere near AA cup size. She must be at least a good solid B. Wish they used small-busted models to demonstrate AA cup size.
