The Small-Busted Icons for 2011

It was a bit of a blow in 2010 when small-busted beauty Kate Hudson traded in her flat bustline for a more curvy shape. But, on the whole, it was a year in which fashion turned its back on inflated bosoms and learned to love the natural look again. Victoria Beckham whipped out her implants and A-list stunners aplenty rocked the small-boobed look.

Last year, I celebrated the most inspirational small-busted beauties: women whose effortless beauty is enhanced by their petite bust size; who exude glamour, style and confidence; and who can easily stop the traffic, despite being far from the hour glass image of sexuality. I awarded these bite size bombshells the title: Small Busted Icon.

The post was much commented on, with readers lapping up the lovelies I chose and adding their own ideas for ladies equally deserving of recognition. So I think now it’s time for an update… I present the Small-Busted Icons for 2011:

  • Zoe Saldana
  • Keira Knightley
  • Natalie Portman
  • Audrey Tautou
  • Milla Jovovich
  • Taylor Swift
  • Jane Birkin
  • Charlotte Rampling
  • Charlotte Gainsbourg
  • Audrey Hepburn

This gallery of gorgeousness is made up of stars from the past and present — but who do you think is the Ultimate Small-Busted Icon?

Delicate & not a touch try-hard, the beautiful Zoe Saldana

As James Cameron’s Avatar tops box office success with critical acclaim at the 2010 Golden Globes, one of its stars, Zoe Saldana, wins fashion plaudits for her stunning red-carpet look.  In the film, she sports blue skin and alien features, and somehow still manages to look ravishing. But last night, with an altogether healthier skin-tone, wearing a maroon dress by Louis Vuitton, she shone. The ruffle detail on small-busted Zoe’s dress was the perfect choice to emphasise her lean physique — and not something a curvier figure could pull-off with such grace.

Usually so cool, Kate Hudson looking less so at this year's Golden Globes

Barely A-cup Kate Hudson, on the other hand, seemed to have fashioned a dress out of folded white card. Yes, we know little-busted women can handle plenty of embellishment and detail around the neckline, but Kate seems to have taken this theory just a smidgeon too far.
